Nigerian singer, songwriter and performer TC Dope returns with a new single that finds the artist leaning into melody, rhythm and an intimate vocal-led sound.
Known for a catalogue that has moved between Afrobeats, contemporary hip-hop and African pop, TC Dope has spent years developing a musical identity built around versatility and collaboration. From his earlier work with Dremo and Terry Apala on “All Night Trap” to his solo releases and 2020 Black Roses project, the Lagos-born artist has continued to explore different sides of his sound.
His latest record continues that progression.
Built around a mid-tempo groove and a melody-forward arrangement, the new single gives TC Dope space to make the vocal the centre of the record. Rather than relying on an overcrowded production, the song allows the rhythm, melody and vocal performance to work together, creating a relaxed contemporary feel.
At just over two minutes, the record is deliberately concise. Its arrangement gets to the central musical idea quickly, making the song easy to absorb while leaving room for repeated listens.
The release also reflects an important part of TC Dope’s artistic identity: his commitment to songwriting. The artist has previously spoken publicly about the importance of writing and creating music to his life, describing music-making as something he cannot simply step away from.
That commitment is evident in a record that prioritises feeling, melody and performance.
TC Dope’s journey has already taken him through collaborations with some of Nigeria’s recognised contemporary artists, as well as the release of his Black Roses project, which featured artists including Skiibii, Dice Ailes and Larry Gaaga.
With this new release, he continues to build on that foundation while presenting a sound that feels direct, accessible and distinctly his own.
The new single by TC Dope is available on digital streaming platforms.
