It’s a heartfelt tribute to the father who carried the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, providing, protecting, and pushing forward even when life demanded more than he had to give, and to the mother whose love became the warmth of the home, stretching little into enough and whispering prayers for her children when nobody else could see the battles she was fighting.
Together, Drey Star sings, his parents represent a love that gives without keeping score, a commitment that survives the good days and the difficult ones. “Kira” follows his previous releases “Live Your Life,” “Reluwe,” and “Lala,” continuing a run of songwriting rooted in his own life story. Drey Star began writing for churches and brands before going independent, and was the main artist for the Ogun at 50 celebration, composing its official theme song.
