Last night, Arsenal finally did it. After more than two decades of waiting, near-misses, and constant “next season” jokes, the Gunners are Premier League champions again, lifting their first league title since 2004. For a generation of fans, this trophy was a release. Years of finishing outside the top four, watching rivals dominate, enduring humiliating losses, and surviving the club’s most uncertain eras have all led to this moment. And now, after rebuilding patiently and painfully under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s long title drought is over. Here’s what Arsenal fans had to say about what the win really means to them.
1. What does this win mean to you?
Yorkk: This win means everything to me, it’s the first time we’ve won the league since I was born. It feels incredible.
Abba: I don’t even have the words! If anything, I’d say it feels like a personal success. If I became the President of Nigeria today, I don’t think I’d feel better than I feel today. It means everything, absolutely everything. I see myself as Arsenal, and Arsenal as me. We have suffered 22 years of heartbreak, but now it is all over.
Dowe: Tbh! I’m speechless. It’s been 2 decades! I’m super happy for the manager. He has built this team for 6 years, and finally, his progress has yielded results.
Dayo: I can’t sufficiently put into words what this win means to me. I don’t even think any combination of words can accurately describe the feelings. Arsenal is not just a football club to me, it’s my life. I have lived my life with the values of Arsenal, the values Arsene Wenger instilled in this club. ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’- Victory lies in the harmony of the club- the values of teamwork, brotherhood, community. I have lived my life on these values, understanding that life is not just about tangible success but about the spirit, the values that you have held along in attaining that success.
As an Arsenal fan, I have gone through the darkest periods of this club, believing there would be a turning point even when no evidence pointed towards that. We went through tough times together and had happy moments sparingly; all those times have culminated into this moment, this moment where we are champions 22 years later.
So, what does this win mean to me, you may ask?
It means victory. A personal victory. Succeeding at something I have tried to get for so long, and I have gotten a new lease of life. It is a personal victory for me and every Arsenal fan out there.
For the dark days we saw, the tears we shed, and the agony we felt, they were all for this moment. So, yeah, it means everything. EVERYTHING!
Bolu: It means literally everything! I get to know what it feels like to be the winner of a major trophy, which I’ve never seen before since I started supporting this beautiful club 😭. All the banter we’ve had to endure has come to an end, and we’re at the beginning of a new dispensation.
Ugo: This win means more than I can describe in words. It feels surreal. Feels like finally breaking a curse😭
Sodiq: This win shows resilience and how sweet it is to gain victory after so many years of toiling.
Wenger: EVERYTHING!
2. Was there ever a time you thought you’d leave the club?
York: Never. No chance.
Dowe: Nah! I was always patient, but there was a time I questioned my fanship. When we lost to Chelsea in the Europa League final. The scoreline was embarrassing. But I kept faith!
Dayo: No. Never. Can never happen. Arsenal yesterday, today and forever! YaGunnersYa!
Bolu: I mean, every Arsenal fan probably gets a small tick after a loss, and no, it’s not the major losses that do it, but rather the expected wins that just make things easier for everyone. In the last few seasons, there have been several moments where I just said ‘yep, I guess I’m done’ after some embarrassing losses or draws, but tbh it just doesn’t work that way lol. You can’t just jump ship; it doesn’t feel real.
Ugo: I have never, for once, thought to leave the club because I can’t start attaching to any other club!
Sodiq: Never.
Abba: Never, all through the lows and the occasional highs as well, truly I could not divorce myself. I am the Arsenal.
Wenger: I completely stopped watching football for at least 3 years after we didn’t win the 2015 season.
3. When was the moment you realised you’d actually never stop supporting Arsenal?
York: When we finished 8th 2 seasons in a row, and I stayed!
Dowe: Today! 😂
Dayo: I don’t think there was ever any moment I considered not supporting Arsenal again, so I don’t think there ever was a moment I realised I was never going to stop. It’s been like this all my life, unshakeable support. I have lived this club, and will forever live this club.
Bolu: Probably the day after or a few days after those embarrassing results 🤣🤣🤣. You just can’t leave. The emotional investment is too deep, and it’s impossible to stop. A shorter answer would probably be last night, after being confirmed the winners of the league 😭😭🤣🤣. Many more to come!!!! I am really enjoying this feeling and long may it continue!!!
Ugo: Coming 2nd in league three times in a row and still going again with them at the start of the season. I fucking love this club!
Sodiq: From the onset of my supporting them, history shows how they have given chances to African players and that resonates so much with me. A club of culture.
Wenger: When Bukayo Saka made his debut.
Abba: Never, because I never thought of stopping.
