Yoruba Samurai: Ladipoe and Joeboy cleverly spin the popular ‘Yoruba demon’ trope.

Ladipoe and Joeboy join forces on this Ozedikus-produced banger.

When Ladipoe shared pictures on his Twitter – sometime in August – about being a Yoruba samurai and killing Yoruba demons, it appeared like content created just to engage fans.

It however became more interesting when he teased a feature with Joeboy – one of Africa’s biggest new pop stars – via a muted video on his socials.

Fast forward to now, we finally get ‘Yoruba Samurai’, a smooth record that spins the popular Yoruba demon trope and presents a new narrative that is sure to elicit conversations – at the very least.

Ladipoe presents his verses in his signature melodic style reminiscent of his Crayon-assisted ‘Based on Kpa’ and ‘Know You’ – his very successful duet with Simi.

Joeboy delivers an earworm of a hook – a delight to hear as we prep our ears for his own debut project rumored to be landing later in the year.

Enjoy ‘Yoruba Samurai’ – we bet you’ll love it.
