On his debut project, Söulaar makes a compilation of songs that portray his versatility and depth. The six track EP serves as a reflection of his cosmic state of mind. “Floating more than running, I’m sometimes an unapologetic, hopeless romantic. The songs highlight that point I was in my life. Some of the songs were based on the result of real-life situations and happenings and I felt it’s only right to share it with the world.”
Soulaar’s Cosmic EP explores themes of love, lust, youthful exuberance, pursuit of happiness, heartbreak, loneliness and craving. The work of art is heavily driven by guitars and keys. Additionally, It is curated to give the audience a seamless transition through the listening process. A fusion of genres and elements, Soulaar uses the various songs to tell a singular, connected story. The songs portray a moment in his life when all he needs is love and affection as he wrestles his way through the challenges that come with the path of greatness that he’s chosen.
Soulaar’s EP opens with “Company,” initiating the theme of desire and commitments. The track, produced by Osadebey with Clean Bolu’s guitar accompaniment, establishes the project’s atmosphere. Subsequently, “Stand By You” continues this motif, delving into lust while the artist strives to secure the top spot in his muse’s affections. Moving forward, “Balance” spotlights the artist’s quest for both desire and radiance, accompanied by captivating melodies. Transitioning to “Tension,” an upbeat tribute to women worldwide, the dynamic production also courtesy of Xtreme the Producer adds to the vibrancy. In contrast, “Faraway,” a catchy Afro-House creation by Soulaar and Xtreme the Producer, conveys a sense of longing for love. Finally, “Need Nobody” exposes a soulful side low-tempo languid Afrobeats rhythm.
