Dr. Adaku’s Jisike.

Jisike is an Igbo (Major Nigerian language) translation for the phrase ‘Be Strong’, or ‘Be Hopeful’. It is a song of hope crafted with Afro lo-fi/RnB melodies and woven with English and Igbo languages. ‘Jisike’, essentially, works as a laxative, relaxing the listener, while also encouraging them to persevere amid life’s inevitable challenges. Dr. Adaku wrote the song during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, a time where uncertainty and fear gripped the globe.

Dr. Adaku is a 27-year-old British-Nigerian Ph.D. holder and artiste, residing in London. Holding two Master’s Degrees, with the most recent being in Health Economics, Dr. Adaku has always had a flair for the Humanities. Her drive for impacting others is also a core driving force behind her academic and artistic exploits.
