Following years of developing and managing talents within labels and distribution companies, Dowe Biyere joins The Orchard as Label Manager, West Africa.
The Orchard, a distribution and artist and label services company owned by Sony Music Entertainment, expanded its services in Africa in 2023, where it has been representing both established and rising music acts in the region such as Patoranking, Lojay, Muis, Mellissa, and Winny.
As Label Manager, Biyere will provide the company’s talent and label roster with release strategies, distribution expertise, and regional support. Commenting on his goals, Biyere stated, “My biggest goal will always be to create adequate cultural impact. I want to be able to take Africa to the world and impact the world with African music. I’d love to get African artists a sit at the table with global artists and I believe with the right personnel in The Orchard family, my goals will be successful.”
Prior to his appointment at The Orchard, Biyere consulted for Kimani Moore Entertainment as a Marketing Manager where he managed partnerships with the likes of Platoon and Peer Music Publishing and worked with artists like Odunsi the Engine, Deto Black, Mowalola, and Tochi Bedford. Alongside his partner, Temitope Funso-Adisa, Biyere launched his company, Sygnal Music Ltd, and signed his first artist, Winny, marking the beginning of his career in talent management. This led him to take on the role of A&R admin at Chocolate City Music, where he worked closely with Candy Bleakz and TAR1Q amidst the label’s act roster comprising Young Jonn and Blaqbonez.
“My experience in developing and managing talents, working with labels and different distribution companies over the years has geared me to be more equipped to manage labels and impact the music industry through The Orchard.”
