The dual release pairs a grief record with a social-commentary cut, signalling where the artist is headed.
Lucky Yay! has released his debut double single “Wizmel Is Lucky”, a two-track project comprising “Tilda” and “My Gist”, now available on all streaming platforms via ONErpm. The release marks his first independent move following a Top 5 finish on MTN’s Next Afrobeats Star, the reality competition that ran from August to December 2025. Rather than lean on the momentum of the show, Lucky Yay! steps out with material built from personal experience, setting the tone for what comes after the spotlight.

“Tilda” anchors the project. It is a grief-driven Afropop record structured around repetition and restraint, sitting with loss rather than resolving it. The production carries the slow rhythmic bounce associated with the Sarz sound the artist was immersed in during the competition, but the emotional weight here is entirely Lucky Yay!’s own. “My Gist” turns the register outward. It is a lighter, more observational cut, aiming at rumour culture and the way social media constructs and dismantles visibility. The two tracks sit in deliberate contrast: one inward, one outward, both grounded in the specifics of the artist’s life right now.
Lucky Yay! arrived at the Next Afrobeats Star auditions with a shaky start, turned four nos into four yeses on the same day, and spent the rest of the competition building a reputation for understated stagecraft and melodic precision. Mentored by Sarz throughout the show, he reached the grand finale and finished 4th runner-up, securing a recording deal with ONErpm. His debut release moves away from the competition format and into the territory of personal catalogue-building.
“Stepping back out into the light, the tribute stays forever, but the journey continues. Keep streaming Tilda.”
