The title DEMOCRAZY is inspired by the song of the same name by Fela Kuti, an artist whose work continues to shape the way many of us think about the relationship between music, society, and truth. Long before I began producing music, I was drawn to the way Fela used sound as a form of documentation. His records were not simply songs; they were observations, critiques, and reflections of the times he lived in. Decades later, many of the themes he explored still feel incredibly relevant, which speaks to both the power of his work and the realities of the country he was writing about.
For me, this project carries an even deeper personal significance because I share the same birthday as Fela Kuti. It is a connection I have always been aware of and one that has become increasingly meaningful as I have grown as an artist. While I would never compare my journey to his, there is something special about being born on the same day as someone whose creative courage and cultural impact continue to inspire generations.

In many ways, DEMOCRAZY became an opportunity to acknowledge that connection and pay tribute to an artist who demonstrated that music can be both entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time. Rather than creating a direct recreation of the original, I wanted to reinterpret the spirit of Fela’s message through my own experiences. Every generation inherits certain conversations, and I believe it is important for artists to engage with them in their own way. The questions Fela was asking decades ago have not disappeared; they have simply taken on new forms. The social, political, and economic realities of Nigeria continue to affect how we live, work, dream, and create. DEMOCRAZY is my contribution to that ongoing dialogue.
Sonically, I wanted the music to embody these feelings. The African drums and Techno synths within the track mirror the energy of the country itself: Restless, unpredictable, and alive. There are moments of tension and moments of release, reflecting the emotional push and pull that many Nigerians experience daily. The record is designed to exist in that space between reflection and movement, where people can dance while still engaging with the ideas that inspired the music.
As a producer, I have always believed that music can communicate things that words sometimes cannot. Certain emotions, frustrations, and hopes are best expressed through Music. DEMOCRAZY became a way of translating my observations of Nigeria into a musical language that people can feel. It is not a political statement as much as it is a personal reflection. It’s an attempt to capture the atmosphere of a particular moment in time and preserve it within a record.
Ultimately, this release is my way of keeping a conversation alive. It is a tribute to the legacy of artists like Fela who used music to document their realities, but it is also a reflection of my own experiences as a Nigerian artist navigating the present.
DEMOCRAZY is an expression of love for the country, even when that love is complicated. It is a reminder that Music has the power to question, to preserve memory, and to connect generations through shared experiences. Most importantly, it is an invitation to listen, reflect, and move together as we continue to imagine what Nigeria can become.
