Laz Releases Debut EP, ‘Body Language’, Under Black Diamond.

Rising Afrofusion artist, Laz has officially released his debut EP, ‘Body Language’, under Black Diamond Collective. The project marks a defining moment in Laz’s artistic journey, introducing his first full body of work with the label and offering listeners a deeper look into his evolving sound and artistic identity.

The seven-track EP builds on the momentum of Laz’s previously released singles ‘ Want You’ featuring Sammie Cash and ‘Ekwe,’ both of which introduced audiences to his smooth vocals and melodic style.

Known for his captivating delivery and understated charm, Laz blends the rhythmic pulse of Afrobeats with the emotional depth of contemporary R&B & Jamaican Dancehall across ‘Body Language’. The project highlights his ability to fuse groove, melody, and storytelling while exploring themes of love, attraction, admiration, and emotional connection.

“Body Language is about communication without words,” says Laz. “It’s the vibe, the energy, the little things you feel when words aren’t even necessary. Sometimes emotions speak louder than anything you can say, and that’s what I wanted to capture with this project.”

A key collaborator on the EP is GRAMMY Award-winning producer KrazyTunez, known for his work on global hits including ‘Sensational.’ KrazyTunez produced six of the seven tracks on the project; including the titillating focus track, ‘BADMAN’, and others such as the slow tempo, ‘Patience’, the smooth Hausa fusion, ‘Labadi’ with First Klaz, ‘Fine Girls,’ and ‘Gangster Love’ helping shape the project’s polished and immersive sonic identity.

“Working with KrazyTunez and Shabba on this project was a whole vibe,” Laz explains. “Krazy really helped me build the foundation. He understood my vision and sound from the start, and we created something special together. Then Shabba came in with his own energy and added another layer to the project. Both of them played an important role in shaping the overall direction and sound of Body Language.”

KrazyTunez adds: “Every time I work with Laz, it’s magic. He understands my sound and energy, and that’s why the records we create together feel natural and effortless.”

While tracks like ‘Folake,’ produced by Shabbaproducer, carry the infectious energy of Afrobeats designed for dance floors, other songs explore a wider sonic palette. ‘Gangster Love,’ for example, draws inspiration from early-2000s R&B, showcasing Laz’s versatility and ability to seamlessly blend genres.

Across the EP, Laz emphasizes emotion as the central thread connecting the music.
“I want people to connect with the emotions in the music,” he says. “Whether it’s love, attraction, confidence, or just pure vibes, it’s not only about what I’m saying; it’s about how the music makes you feel.”

Laz was among the first artists signed to Black Diamond Collective, the label established by Afrobeats icon, Wande Coal. Since joining the label in 2024, Laz has continued to refine his sound under Coal’s mentorship, emerging as a promising voice within contemporary African music.

Body Language is now available on all major streaming platforms worldwide.
