Afrofusion act, Marz BGX is making a final statement for the year with a bouncy love number titled “Iyawo” produced by emerging producer, SpyKida. The nostalgic number, inspired by the R&B-pop numbers of the early 2000s and Afropop icons like the Remedies, praises the beauty of a love interest. Marz describes his intentions for this sultry beauty while alternating between sung vocals and a rap verse – displaying a range that runs through his music.
This intense appreciation of his “Iyawo” is visualised in a svelte performance video, directed by Jedidah M., in London, England. Following his introduction with 2021’s “Favour” and a subtle rebrand to Marz BGX, the Benin City native is placing markers for his sound – as he looks to claim his place in the coming year with talks of an EP scheduled for early 2022.
