Nigerian-American singer-songwriter Teledalase returns with a deeply rooted new single that draws from Yoruba mythology, spirituality and the enduring power of cultural identity.
Nigerian-American singer-songwriter Teledalase has released her latest single, “SANGO, IGI NLA,” a culturally rich record that explores Yoruba mythology, ancestral reverence and the enduring relationship between spirituality, strength and identity.
Released on August 13, 2026, “SANGO, IGI NLA” sees Teledalase lean further into the cultural and traditional elements that have increasingly become an important part of her musical expression.
The title references Sàngó, one of the most prominent figures in Yoruba cosmology, traditionally associated with thunder, lightning, power and justice, alongside “Igi Nla,” meaning “great tree.” The record uses these powerful symbols to create a musical world centred around strength, reverence, spirituality and connection to ancestral roots.
Rather than simply borrowing from Yoruba culture, Teledalase approaches the record from a place of familiarity and personal connection.
