5 Mohbad Songs That’ll Live Forever

On Tuesday, 13th September 2023, the music industry, entertainment industry, and Nigerians as a whole were thrown into mourning following the news of the passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, professionally known as, Mohbad at the age of 27. His cause of death remains vague.

Until his death, Imole, as he fondly called himself was a hustling singer, songwriter, and label, Imolenization, Huncho, who always wanted to make good music and entertain his fans.

He was previously signed to Marlian Music, but departed in 2022, on the grounds of assault and constant bullying. Mohbad is best known for hit singles Peace, Ask About Me, Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK with Rexxie which earned nominations in three categories at the 2022 Headies Award.

Mohbad had a lot to say and mostly passed his messages through his music.

Listed below are 5 of his songs that will live forever

  1. KPK (Ko Por Ke)

The song KPK came at a time when the world was just escaping from a pandemic that had invaded us for so long. Nigerians had given up on the idea of the possibility of a Detty December.

Surprisingly, with an assist from Mohbad, Rexxie, a music producer came through when it mostly mattered. KPK is a high-tempo Afrobeat song that resonates with every music lover.

  1. Feel Good

We were basking off his debut EP, Light, when the then Marlian Records signee, dropped us a banging tune, Feel Good. Jumping on the Amapaino trend, Mohbad knew just what to do with the lyrics, delivery, and overall production.

Feel Good racked good numbers for the longest. Although Feel Good has a similar vibe to KPK, we are thankful to the South Africans for the gift of Amapiano, as Feel Good is already an evergreen song.

  1. Beast and Peace

Beast and Peace is a track off Mohbad’s sophomore EP, dubbed, Blessed. Through his passion for music and struggles, the Imolenization label head constantly made it a point to pass messages across through his music.

On Beast and Peace, he spoke about going through hurt but always coming out victorious because he stands with God. He also advised his fans to always turn to God in trying times.

  1. Adura

Mohbad joined forces with his best buddy, Bella Shmurda to dish out an addictive track titled, Adura. Adura, which translates to prayers is a thoughtful song, where both artists blessed us with their powerful vocals. Adura is a track that would not be fizzling out anytime soon.

  1. Ask About Me

Also off his EP, Blessed, which is now topping the Apple music chart, stepping down Burna Boy’s “I Told Them” to number 2, Mohbad came through with “Ask About Me”. Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, until his death wanted music lovers to know that he had a lot to offer.

Lyrics like, “Ask about me, ask about me (’bout me)
Wonti le mi, but won mu mi (mu mi)
Omo Olohun, k’ole su mi” showcased his resilience and determination to succeed against all odds. Ask About Me is a song that will live forever.
